The reasons for the strike are:
1) the elimination of tuition waivers for athletes, artists, actors and musicians, among other groups considered high academic performance.
2) The refusal of the University of PR, University of the State, to open their books.
3) The possibility of privatization of campuses that belong to the people.
4) The mismanagement of fiscal deficit of $ 200 million and waste the budget of the University and
5) The politicization of the university processes and coarctation of student participation in decision-making processes of the university.
